Your Research Program, Built Around Your Capacity

Clinical trials offer real financial and clinical upside for medical practices, but the regulatory, operational, and patient-facing complexity can feel overwhelming, especially without a dedicated research team. That’s where TriStar Clinical Research Consulting, LLC comes in.

We act as your behind-the-scenes research department, stepping into whatever role your site needs. Some clients need help selecting the right trial, embedding Good Clinical Practice into everyday operations, and navigating FDA startup requirements. Others need us embedded throughout the entire trial lifecycle. Many fall somewhere in between, and that’s exactly what we’re built for.

TriStar Clinical Research Consulting, LLC is a Texas-based site management organization (SMO) serving sites across Texas and New Mexico, with virtual support available nationwide. Our team brings regulatory expertise, hands-on startup experience, and a practical understanding of what it actually takes to run trials in a busy clinical environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: Do I need prior clinical research experience to work with TriStar CRC?

No — and that’s actually one of the most common situations we work with. Many of our clients are independent physician practices or small healthcare organizations that are interested in clinical research but have never run a trial before. We provide the expertise, structure, and guidance your team needs to participate in trials confidently and compliantly, regardless of your starting point. We’ll assess your site, identify the right trials for your patient population, and manage as much of the process as needed while your team learns alongside us.

Q2: What types of clinical trials do you support?

We don;t see ourselves as supporting clinical trial, we support sites. During our site assessment, we evaluate your patient population and match you to studies that are realistic to execute at your location and within your resources.

Q3: How is TriStar CRC different from a CRO (contract research organization)?

A CRO typically works on behalf of the sponsor, the pharmaceutical or biotech company funding the trial. TriStar CRC works on behalf of your site. As a site management organization (SMO), our job is to make your site successful, representing your interests in budget negotiations, helping you build sustainable infrastructure, and managing the day-to-day complexity of trial operations so your clinical team can stay focused on patients. We’re your advocate, not the sponsor’s representative.

Q4: How long does clinical trial startup typically take?

Startup timelines vary based on sponsor requirements, IRB review times, and site readiness, but most trials take 3–6 months from site qualification to first patient enrollment. When TriStar CRC manages the startup process, we actively work to compress that timeline by keeping regulatory submissions on track, coordinating between your team and the sponsor, and anticipating common bottlenecks before they cause delays. For sites newer to research, we build in additional onboarding time to set up systems correctly from the start.

Q5: Can we start with just one service and expand later?

Absolutely. Many sites begin with a single engagement, often trial feasibility or startup, and expand their TriStar CRC support as their program grows and their comfort with research increases. Our service structure is intentionally modular. You’re never locked into a scope that doesn’t fit your current reality, and we regularly revisit engagements with clients to ensure the support level matches where their program is heading.
